The Bard Skill is for Old School RuneScape
I love the concept. It was interesting to read the post about it. However, I feel that the technique is doing the right amount. I really enjoyed it up to the point where I almost felt like "dungeoneer" when it came to the reward. I liked the logicalness of the technique until we begin realizing that things are musicians and music fractures. This is more rs3-like.
If we scaled it back to what it was at its heart I would think it'd be more fascinating. The training techniques and focusing on the fighting.
I'm sure the article was a bit long it's hard to get all the details in one go. With the format, my biggest issue is that it's like the entire time you are trying to justify your position. I understand maybe putting that at the beginning to sort of explain what you're doing with the skill but constantly being reminded increases the "information overload" and it doesn't really give any reason or explanation and just keeps reminding us of problems. I'm not sure how I phrased this in the most effective way. When trying to impress an audience, it is best to focus on positives and keep the "yes's" rolling. The article you wrote was extremely well done, but it's akin to driving down a nice highway that's wonderful, but every mile you drive, there's one pothole. This makes the trip little bit less pleasurable.
But the basic idea behind the training, and a lot of the barb battling aspect is fantastic. I'm still undecided about the other mechanics, however it would be awesome to give ale a bigger part of OSRS. Maybe make different ales have different buffs.
The way I see it I think the training itself is great and introduces a good item sink in the course of play. Though I'd prefer to focus on items already present in the game and not create fresh "raw materials" from sources.
I am intrigued by the idea of level 3 skills becoming to be a "combat like" ability. I also like Barb battles, but they need to be a little more polished. I like how the instruments function as well.
My final recommendation is for barb battles at the highest levels should offer the chance of dropping rare instruments that should be very high-level cash rewards for talent. There must be a good reason for wanting these weapons. These weapons you can't make and can only get in bard battles need to be safe and must be the top for the slot at the highest levels.
