For DKs you need to go there, and you'll require either a partner or rune thrown pet rock with OSRS gold and then go along the path for several hours. For GWD you need to get there, got your stats drained (the fire is relatively new) and you'll need to count your kills (eccu keys didn't exist), etc. So yeah, maybe the kill times for each KC were shorter, but you could prepare to those fights.
To play Kraken, Zulrah, CG There is an increased amount of "good part" that actually does the boss/content and less of the preliminaries "boring part".
This is a very good idea. I personally don't enjoy having to travel to distant bosses. Especially DKs and nightmare. In spite of that I think that dropping rates that are more recent take a lot longer than the placement of the older bosses. I'm not trying to entirely discredit your claim however there's definitely something about long trips that can act as a deterrent to exploitation the boss.
It's made me think that maybe these long travel hours are part of the old school spirit. I like what I consider to be the "good part" just as much as everyone else, but I still tend to get bored of a boss when I'm on dry streaks.
As someone who's got 525kc at nightmare (probably 200 in five people and at least 20 in a solo) with only an empty jar to prove it, I can completely agree, the minor quest requirements of older bosses are nothing compared to the days of playing with no drops. I've probably spent between 80 and 100m on supplies doing nightmare and my most expensive drop was about 500k.
I have an end-game iron and am familiar with a number of other ends game irons I'll say that nothing has led to people being demonized, made people quit, or caused people to dislike the game as much or nex. The bosses are basic, boring, and easy, but with drop rates expected from engaging, intense content like tob and cox. Or, Jagex has totally lost its sense of humor or they've decided that their primary target market should be Venezuelan gold producers.
Corp is bad too but it's not like it's suffering because the drops aren't nearly as important. The boss has 0 supplies, and it's completely comfortable. You can go do 12-15 corp kills at night in a relaxed position, eating, and watching a movie. Nex and nightmares are similar to the cheap RS gold game's endgame content however they're extremely fast and easy kills so they get old way faster. I'd sacrifice almost anything in-game for the sake of ensuring that Nex did not come out.
