P&G and Alliances join hands with Ministry of Commerce to deliver “Green Gift” to children with special needs.

Procter and Gamble Trading (Thailand) ltd, P&G Thailand Foundation for Society in a collaboration with Department of Internal Trade, the Ministry of Commerce, Resources Management for Sustainability (3R) Foundation and the Federation of Thai Industries, jointly organizecharity event  “Green Gift of Learning” to deliver a playground as one of “88 Recycled Playgrounds to celebrate the 88th Birthday Anniversary of the King”project for children with special needs at Sri Sang Wan, Nonthaburi.

 

Today             P&G have delivered 60 playgrounds which made of recycled plastic shampoo bottles of Pantene, Head& Shoulders, Rejoice and Herbal Essence to those schools with the special needs and disabilities under the Ministry of Education. P&G aims to complete all 88 playgrounds by December 2016 in commemoration of His Majesty the King’s 88th Birthday Anniversary.

 

  1. Director-General of Department of Internal Trade, Ministry of Commerce presided over the charity event “Green Gift of Learning”, to deliver the playgrounds made of recycled shampoo bottles for children with special needs at Sri Sang Wan School, Nonthaburi, together with project alliances including Resources Management for Sustainability (3R) Foundation and the Federation of Industries Thailand.The Ministry of Commerce is so honored to be part of this project. We see the importance of development of these children with special needs. The Ministry usually donate the necessary goods and provide food for children in need. We greatly appreciate P&G’s effort and its partners who support the project by placingthe donation boxes to collect the empty shampoo bottles for recycling.

 

  1. A playground is an essential tool for children’s development in social, emotional and ability to learn. The children will also learn and understand of value of recycling and environmental conservation from recycled playground during their play.  As of today, the project is now 70% progress. We aim to complete all 88 playgrounds by this December, almost a year ahead of schedule. We really appreciate this great public-private partnership including trade partners, celebrities, volunteers who jointly participate the project.

 

            Sri Sang Wan School is the private school under the Royal Patronage of the Her Royal HignessSomdejPhra Sri NakarindraBaromrajChonni, opening for the children with disabilities from Kindergarten level to Mathayom 3, not limited to genders, age between 4-17 year-old, both boarding and day school. The HRH Princess SriNakarin opened the school on 11th February 1960 and named the school after hers as “Sri SangWan School”. Their service was set up for education and professionals for the disabled children. The children who enrolled in this school will continuously get improvement of physics along with emotion.

 

          Mrs. NintiraSophonpanich, Executive Managing Director of Sri Sang Wan School also added, “We’re highly honored to welcome the Department of Internal Trade, the Ministry of Commerce and P&G Thailand Foundation and thanks for giving us the special gift -  the recycled playground which definitely help improve children’s development. We provide a series of step by step program to support to children with special needs, both since and after birth.  So, a colorful playground will help improve their physical and emotional conditions. The children will also learn to share and live with others”.

 

          Mr. ParadonJullachart, the Chairman of Thai Plastic Industry Club, Federation of Thai Industriessaid, “We are very pleased to be part of this awesome project with P&G. We involved at the beginning by providing the technical consult for recycling process, recycled plastic resin formulation for making equipment of playgrounds. P&G’s shampoo bottle is made of good and recyclable plastic. It is flexible and durable and suitable for recycling. We believe that recycled playground will be safe for children to play and in the same time can generate a wide range of economic, social and environmental benefits.

 

          The Gift of learning has been carried on since 2012 under “Ruk Rien” Project which joined hands with government agencies, non-profit organization, the trade partnerswho are responsible for children’s rights protection, underprivileged children, children with special needs, the children with HIV, the children in observation and protection. The objective of “Gift of Learning” is to provide education and enhance health and hygiene conditions through P&G brands includes Oral-B, Pantene, Rejoice, Head & Shoulders, Safeguard bar soap etc. Also, the project aim to build self-confidence and inspiration for those children through recreation activities including free dental check-up by Oral-B, hand-wash by Safeguard, Head & Shoulder’s football clinic by professional coach and mini-concert by the Star singers and P&G Brand Ambassadors.    

 

Project “88 Recycled Playgrounds to celebrate the 88th Birthday Anniversary of the King” as an extension of the project “Green Gift of Learning”. The projectwas established by P&G Foundation for the Society and P&G Thailand along with the Office of the Basic Education Commission (OBEC), Ministry of Education, Resources Management for Sustainability (3R) Foundation and the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) recognized the importance of increasing the educational opportunities especially for children with the special needs e.g. children with the physical and mobility disabilities, children with hearing, vision and intellectual problems and the children with autism. This has also been implemented in commemoration of HM the King BhumibolAdulyadej’s 88th Birthday on 5 December 2015. The objective is to deliver the recycled playground, worth 15 million THB, manufactured by the shampoo bottles to the children with special needs along with the products of P&G e.g. soap, toothbrush, shampoo by 2017. It is expected that 20,000 children at least will receive the benefits in terms of health, physical and emotional development and the environmental awareness.
